Manufacturer and installer of solar panels Akeena Solar has established an agreement with Westinghouse to manufacture, install, market and distribute the solar panels of Akeena Solar under the brand name of Westinghouse.
The innovative technology of Akeena Solar integrates the expertise of its solar power system into the panels, thereby decreasing the number of parts by 80% and enhancing reliability and performance. The alternating-current (AC) systems of Akeena Solar are safe and generate around 25% more power than conventional direct-current (DC) panels.
This agreement combines the performance, safety and reliability of Akeena Solar with trusted consumer brand name of Westinghouse.
As part of the transition of Westinghouse, Andalay Solar, the fully-owned subsidiary of Akeena Solar, will be rechristened as Westinghouse Solar. This novel subsidiary will control the manufacturing, design and distribution of the AC solar panels of Akeena Solar. Akeena Solar as well as its authorized dealers such as Lowe's Home Improvement stores will have the rights for installing Westinghouse Solar panels. During the summer of 2010, the solar panels branded by Westinghouse will commence shipping to customers located in Canada and the U.S.
