Siemens can supply the SWT-3.6-107 model wind turbine which is suitable for offshore and onshore applications. The rotor of this wind turbine incorporates a cantilevered construction upwind type three blade rotor measuring 107 m with a swept area of 9,000 m².
This rotor is designed to tilt six degrees and works at speeds between 5–13 rpm. This wind turbine incorporates B52 type blades made of fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin measuring 52 m in length and is available in light grey, RAL 7035. The SWT-3.6-107 model wind turbine has a three-stage planetary-helical design gear box installed over the nacelle with elastic type of rubber bushings to reduce the noise. The gearbox also incorporates a mechanical brake to initiate stopping operations.
The asynchronous type of generator installed in the SWT-3.6-107 incorporates a separate thermostat controlled ventilation system for effective cooling and has class F type of insulation for increased life time of the generator winding. The nominal power of the generator is 3600 kW, its synchronous speed is 1500 rpm, and voltage is 690 V. This variable frequency generator has IP54 type of protection and utilizes an integrated heat exchanger for cooling purposes.
The SWT-3.6-107 wind turbine from Siemens is installed over a tubular steel tower. The microprocessor controller utilized in this model is of self diagnosing type and includes switchgear and other guarding instruments. The cut in wind speed of this wind turbine is 3-5 m/s, its nominal power output speed is 13-14 m/s, and its cut-out wind speed is 25 m/s. This wind turbine incorporates a number of safety systems for ease of operation and offers optional remote monitoring through Internet.
