Standard Solar Appreciates Gov. O'Malley for Solar Legislation

Standard Solar, Inc. has appreciated the signing of legislation into law by Martin O'Malley, the Maryland Governor. This law facilitates increasing the quantity of electricity needed to be produced by the utilities of the state and other electrical energy suppliers.

The President of Standard Solar Scott Wiater commented that this legislation serves as an investment in the clean energy economy of Maryland as well as builds on the initiatives taken by the Governor to turn the state into a top-ranking state when it comes to producing renewable energy and more especially solar energy. Over the last two years, with the help of the 2007-solar law, the company helped create over 50 jobs.

The solar law of this year which originated initially as Senate Bill 277 now extends the $400-compliance fee for the shortfall of every megawatt in the production of electrical energy from solar (PV) systems to the year 2014. The payments received from the compliance fees will be utilized for funding clean energy programs such as solar grants provided by the Maryland Energy Administration.
