Southwest Windpower offers the Whisper 100 wind turbine. This wind turbine produces a maximum of 100 kWh energy per month by using an average wind speed of 5.4 m/s. The Whisper 100 wind turbine is suitable for homes in remote locations, telecommunication installation sites and other type of rural applications.
This wind turbine incorporates a trade marked side furling design for safe operations. The other installed features that makes this wind turbine ideal to work along with photovoltaic systems include a new four bearing spindle for quieter functioning and long life, and an upgraded yaw shaft system for effective delivery of current to the batteries.
The new type of bronze bushings and a bigger sized furling pin helps in smoother furling action of the blades. The novel castings incorporated in the turbine model allows easy access to the stator for charging voltage. The body of the Whisper 100 wind turbine offered by Southwest Windpower is made of cast aluminum alloy and marine option is also available. The rotor of this wind turbine measures 2.1 m in diameter and the three numbers of blades used in the turbine are made of carbon reinforced fiberglass. This wind turbine is mounted over a 6.35 cm schedule 40 pipe.
The startup wind speed of this turbine is 3.4 m/s and its survival wind speed is 55 m/s. This wind turbine is available in 12, 24, 36 and 48 VDC voltage ratings. This wind turbine produces a maximum of 900 W at 12.5 m/s wind speed. The diversion load feature included in the controller allows smoother functioning of the turbine when the batteries are fully charged.
