Home builder Beazer Homes has introduced its first eSMART Green homes that are powered by solar energy in Terraza at Villago in the metropolitan region of Phoenix. The opening ceremony which was held on June 5, 2010 included informational seminars on residential solar and model home tours.
The eSMART Green model homes at Villago feature spray foam insulation, an energy-saving products array and innovative construction methods that together make the homes around 46% more efficient in energy consumption in comparison with conventional homes. These homes are certified by ENERGY STAR and incorporate features that assist save water consumption and offer clean indoor air.
The sales vice president of Beazer Homes in Phoenix Martin Hernandez commented that homeowners at Villago can realize monthly utility savings by utilizing solar energy to power their homes. The Phoenix Division of Beazer Homes has collaborated with SolarCity for offering a SolarLease(TM) program that removes the initial expenses involved in installing a solar power system. This program is an optional feature.
The eSMART Green model homes at Villago have incorporated additional energy-saving features such as high-efficiency HVAC systems, tankless water heaters, low-e windows, home energy monitors, programmable thermostats, small-sized fluorescent light bulbs and ENERGY STAR appliances. In order to save water, the homes comprise dual-flush toilets, manifold plumbing systems, showerheads and water-saving faucets. The homes feature Nylon recyclable carpets, low-volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions paints, fresh-air ventilated ducts and high-grade air filters for maintaining indoor air quality.
