Century Wind Energy offers Vertical Axis Wind Turbines. The vertical axis wind turbines are offered in 200–500 W, 1–10 kW, and 50 kW–1MW power ranges. The VP series vertical axis wind turbines incorporate aerofoil style of blades and react to even low-level wind speeds. This horizontal wind turbine is not affected by wind directions, operates efficiently with low noise and produce maximum energy output.
The 1 MW vertical axis wind turbine offered by Century Wind Energy starts producing power at a nominal cut in wind speed of 6 mph and achieves maximum power production at 28 mph wind speed. The operating wind speed of this wind turbine is in the range of 6.6–67 mph. The design of this wind turbine allows this turbine to withstand wind speeds up to 133 mph. The rotor installed in the wind turbine measures 200 ft. in diameter. This turbine incorporates six numbers of hydraulic variable pitch vertical blades each measuring 116 in. in length with aerofoil and lightening protection. The total weight of this wind turbine is 100 tonnes.
This wind turbine produces 690 VAC 50/60 Hz power. For protection against over speed this wind turbine incorporates both electronic and hydraulic braking systems and a secondary auto disc brake system. The total structure height of this wind turbine is 193 ft, and its platform has a height of 84 ft. The functions of the wind turbine can be monitored from remote.
