Clipper Windpower offers the Liberty 2.5 MW Wind Turbine. This wind turbine is offered in C89, C93, C96 and C100 models with variations in size of the rotor, blade and speed.
This wind turbine incorporates patented Quantum Drive, a solid two stage helical distribution for trouble free drive gear operation. This wind turbine includes two numbers of preloaded, low speed tapered roller main bearings to endure the thrust loads, forbid damages, and to reduce down time to increase the turbine life. The tapered roller main bearings also stabilize the axial motion of the main shaft and prevent misalignment.
The Liberty 2.5 MW wind turbine incorporates four number of permanent magnet generators requiring no maintenance and operates efficiently over a wide range of power outputs. Each generator has a rated power of 660 kW at 1133 rpm. The generators can be easily serviced using the onboard jib hoist. The variable speed system employed in the wind turbine achieves greater efficiencies using large capacity IGBT and the patented permanent magnet generator technology. The control system incorporated in the Liberty 2.5 MW wind turbine offered by Clipper Windpower utilizes high speed embedded processors and processing algorithm and deploy minimum number of parts to achieve reliable functioning and reduced outages.
The Liberty C1002.5 MW wind turbine incorporates a rotor with 100 m diameter and its blade measure 48.7 m in length and covers a swept area of 7854 m². The cut-in wind speed of this wind turbine is 4 m/s and its cut-out wind speed is 25 m/s. This wind turbine incorporates a 3X DC type of electric-mechanical gear motor as pitch system. This wind turbine achieves its maximum power output of 2500 kW at 9.6–15.5 rpm range. This wind turbine incorporates a parking brake system utilizing dual disc with active hydraulic brake calipers. The partly conical designed tower of this wind turbine is made of tubular steel with a hub height of 80 m.
