Naturener and SunPower Partner on a Solar Power Plant in Spain

SunPower Corp. is constructing a solar power plant for Naturener Group with 9.1 MW capacity in Alange, Badajoz, Spain. As per the contract with Naturener Group, SunPower will offer maintenance and operations services.

At the area spanning 38 hectares, SunPower will install SunPower T0 Tracker technology that requires just 50% of the land area for producing the similar amount of power as traditional dual-axis trackers. In comparison with fixed-tilt systems, the Tracker systems place solar panels in such a position so as to deliver around 25% more energy. The system, thanks to advanced backtracking algorithms, avoids panel shading and increases production of energy.

SunPower will install the standard-efficiency Serengeti solar panels on the Trackers. Construction work on the facility is likely to commence this month, employing more than 150 domestic workers.

SunPower has over 550 MW of solar systems either under contract or installed. Previously, SunPower had constructed and designed solar power plants for Naturener Group totaling 29 MW, situated in the regions of Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha.
