This wind turbine incorporates a low speed Giromill vertical axis rotor with a height of 6.1 m and a diameter of 1.2 m. The rotor is made of aircraft graded extruded aluminum and offers a swept area of 7.43 m2.

The Standard Wind Unit 1.2kW wind turbine deploys a brushless permanent magnet generator to convert the kinetic energy into electrical energy. The generated power is stored in a custom type 120 VAC 60 Hz grid connected inverter.
The 1.2 kW wind turbine offered by Windspire Energy is fixed over a monopole structure made of recycled high grade steel finished with corrosion resistant industrial grade paint. This wind turbine is erected over a concrete foundation. The controls of the wind turbine can be monitored from remote by utilizing an integrated wireless Zigbee Modem. The inverter utilized in this wind turbine meets the safety certification requirements IEEE 1547.1; UL 1741.
