Wind Day 2010 to Focus on Offshore Wind Turbines

On June 17, 2010, the Danish Research Consortium for Wind Energy will present the annual Wind Day. Recent research findings from research institutions in Denmark within wind energy will be presented in this consortium. The event participants will gain insight into the know-how of research institutions of Denmark and into various wind energy initiatives. The theme for this year is offshore wind energy.

Wind Day is targeted at the contacts of the consortium and others who have interest in wind energy. The meeting will commence with a presentation of the Danish Research Consortium for Wind Energy’s new initiatives. This will be followed by a presentation on the novel initiative ‘Lindø Offshore Renewable Centre’. The other presentations throughout the day will be focused on the research activities of the consortium on offshore wind power.

In comparison with 2009, the market for offshore wind turbine is likely to witness growth by 71%. A year-on-year growth rate of 28% will be needed till 2020, for achieving EWEA (European Wind Energy Association) goals of 40 GW offshore and EU goals of 20% renewable energy by 2020.
