JA Solar Introduces New SECIUM Solar Cells

High-performance solar energy products manufacturer JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd., has announced the introduction of new series of solar cells named "SECIUM". This announcement was made at Intersolar Europe.

When compared with conventional solar cells, the novel high-efficiency, cost-effective SECIUM solar cells facilitate better spectral response even at short wavelengths. Enhanced short circuit current and enhanced open circuit voltage are some of the additional highlights of the SECIUM cells. Furthermore, in comparison with traditional solar cells, the SECIUM cells demonstrate better fill factor.

In May, pilot-scale production of these new cells began. Commercial-scale production is expected to commence by Q3 of 2010. The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems has certified that the SECIUM cells have achieved conversion efficiency rates of 18.9%.
