NREL Verifies High Efficiency Rates of MiaSole Solar Modules

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the U.S. Department of Energy has verified the 13.8% efficiency of MiaSole’s large area production modules. MiaSole is a thin-film, copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) photovoltaic solar panels manufacturer.

This novel high efficiency will facilitate MiaSole to provide solar modules with the lower production expenses of thin-film modules and the same efficiency of polysilicon.

The innovative manufacturing process of MiaSole applies CIGS onto a stainless steel, flexible substrate and generates every layer of this photovoltaic material, by following a continuous sputtering procedure. This sputtering process helps the company decrease costs of production and manufacturing time.

During the first half of 2010, MiaSole will supply 6.5 MW and will provide 22 MW in 2010. The products of the company are developed for independent power producers and utilities in applications including large-scale ground mount and rooftop installations.
