During the recent Annual U.S. Wind Energy Operations & Maintenance Summit conducted in Dallas, Texas, the vice president in charge of application engineering of SmartSignal Corporation David Bell spoke as a prominent speaker. The conference was attended by prominent industry leaders who shared information on different ways the wind sector can reduce O&M costs, mitigate risks, optimize productivity and reduce downtime.
David spoke on the topic “Turning Data Into Information for Predictive Maintenance”, that discussed: the importance of condition-based maintenance to wind; a new maintenance philosophy titled, “Threat-based Maintenance”, that can trace out and remove minor equipment problems; and real case studies on wind farms.
SmartSignal Corporation enhances turbine availability and reliability and decreases maintenance costs throughout the wind farm, helping to optimize crane usage, leverage remotely located resources and prioritize tower inspections. SmartSignal Corporation identifies and alerts wind farms of probable problems, by analyzing information in real-time that are gathered through a programmable logic controller (PLC) in the nacelle.
Over the last several years, SmartSignal Corporation has enhanced its presence in the wind sector including: modifying its Power Gen solutions for meeting variable and specific requirements; taking part with Invenergy in the International Wind Energy Research Consortium; and offering wind farms with SmartSignal Predictive Analytics by collaborating with OSIsoft.
