Yingli Green Energy Launches Carbon-Neutral Commercial Display in Johannesburg

Photovoltaic manufacturer and solar energy company Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited has opened its carbon-neutral Commercial Display at the Soccer City Stadium located in Johannesburg, South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Commercial Display is a region where sponsors and partners of the 2010 FIFA World Cup can exhibit and educate people about their brands and products. The company was able to achieve carbon-neutral for this commercial display by integrating its photovoltaic system into the selection, design of materials that have low carbon footprint.

This Commercial Display includes a completely operating integrated PV system utilizing Yingli Solar semi-transparent laminates. This system is likely to generate around 1,500 kWh of electrical energy and balance around 1.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide; equal to the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from driving a car for more than 10,000 km. The overall rated power of this system is 1.2 kWp. Locally sourced materials in South Africa such as bamboo and wood also contributed to the reduction of carbon footprint.
