VIASPACE Teams Up With RuBa Energie for Clean Energy

VIASPACE Inc., a clean energy firm that grows Giant King Grass as a renewable, low-carbon energy crop, has signed a memorandum of understanding with RuBa Energie GmbH, a Germany-based biogas producer that owns and operates biogas electric-energy plants and provides bio-digestion as well as biogas energy solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, a five-acre facility of RuBa Energie located in Kevelaer, Germany was planted with VIASPACE Giant King Grass. 

The objective of this partnership with RuBa Energie is for producing nonfood, high-yield, alternative feedstock for over 4,000 bio-digesters that operate in Germany. Both of the companies will determine the optimal growing conditions that suit Giant King Grass and also test the biogas energy generation at RuBa Energie’s biogas electric power plant with 1 MW capacity. Giant King Grass has been verified to possess ideal biogas generation characteristics. Biogas, a combination of carbon dioxide and methane, is burnt in an engine for driving a generator that produces electricity as well as usable heat.
