Seajacks International to Construct Wind Farm Installation Vessel Named Seajacks Zaratan

Seajacks International has reached an agreement with Lamprell Energy PLC to develop Seajacks Zaratan, a self-propelled jackup, designed to serve the wind farm installation sector as well as the oil and gas industry.

This vessel is a customized product of the MSC NG5500 design that features a superfluous DP2 propulsion system, housing for 90 people and an 800T leg encircling crane developed by MSC. Using these capabilities, this vessel can install foundations and wind turbines at a depth of around 55 meters under water.

The agreement offers Seajacks International with an alternative to construct a surplus vessel at Lamprell. Seajacks Zaratan is likely to be delivered by Q2 of 2012.

Currently, Seajacks International operates and owns two self-propelled jack-up vessels named Seajacks Leviathan and Seajacks Kraken at Great Yarmouth in the U.K. The two vessels are built to install offshore wind turbines.
