Flextronics to Build SunWave Smart Energy Modules of Petra Solar

Clean technology firm that connects solar and smart grid Petra Solar has entered into an agreement with provider of electronics manufacturing services Flextronics. Under this agreement, Flextronics will develop SunWave smart energy modules of Petra Solar for use around the world.

This partnership is likely to enhance the ability of Petra Solar to deliver its SunWave pole-mounted solar power systems to customers throughout the world, providing the company the scalability and flexibility to meet the increasing demands from customers for its SunWave solution. This will also help create numerous domestic jobs.

The SunWave product of Petra Solar is a distributed solar energy management and generation system. Utilities that utilize SunWave on their poles cost-effectively produce solar energy and benefit from grid reliability enhancement tools and a smart grid communications system. The smart grid communications system of SunWave offers three operations. First, the communication system monitors as well as reports on the condition of the SunWave system. Second, it offers a tool for remotely controlling the SunWave system. Third, it offers a cost-effective support for other smart grid approaches including Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
