Aerogenesis offers the Aerogenesis 5 kW wind turbine. The upwind rotor of this wind turbine incorporates two blades made of vacuum infused fiber glass reinforced epoxy measuring 5 m in diameter. The computer designed blades are molded using computer controlled milling machine for accuracy.
The swept area of the rotor is 19.64 m². The Aerogenesis 5 kW wind turbine starts its power production at 3.0 m/s speed and produces a maximum 5 kW power at 10.5 m/s speed with 320 rpm. The speed of the wind turbine is controlled by a microprocessor control of the generator and electro mechanical brake is used as over speed control. This wind turbine incorporates a yaw system with passive regulation by tail fin.
This wind turbine comprises a fan cooled four-pole, three-phase induction generator manufactured by Rexnord. This generator outputs voltage in the range of 80 to 500 V AC in a frequency range of 20–70 Hz. The generator utilizes an 8.15:1 helical inline gear box and a failsafe electromechanical disk brake for over speed protection. The Aerogenesis 5 kW wind turbine deploys a microprocessor controlled power point tracking to generate power during wind speed below 10 m/s. The control system utilizes a stall governing for power reduction to stop the rotor during high velocity winds.
This turbine is available in 24 V, 48 V DC output ranges and more outputs are available on specification by the customer. Similarly the AC inverter output is available in 110 V with 60 Hz frequency or 220 V and 240 V with 50 Hz frequency or on the specification by the customer. The available tower height of this wind turbine is 18 m and it is available in hinged tower and hinged at base options.
