General Environmental Management Inc. (GEM) has declared that it has decided to focus fully on the Brazilian waste-to-energy project by Bio-Energy Solutions Group, Inc. (BESG).
GEM will manage the operations of BESG’s project in Pernambuco for a 15-year term. This will include collecting and processing municipal solid waste and conversion of the waste to other forms of energy.
GEM is planning to wind up the termination of the acquisition of California Living Waters so that it can concentrate more on the BESG waste management contract. Tim Koziol, the CEO of GEM, said that GEM has taken up the BESG project keeping in mind the company’s vast experience and expertise in the management of waste. He added that this large-scale project, in which the company will manage over 4,900,000 tons of feedstock annually from more than 368 municipalities, is likely to be very profitable for GEM.
He further said that this partnership with BESG will keep them busy for the most part and is the best opportunity to build shareholder value in the company. According to him, this new project will enable GEM to use their knowledge and skills in waste management to generate revenue and also to find a solution for complex waste management issues of Brazil.
