SunPower Corp. has entered into a partnership with Casino Group to provide surplus 20 MW of solar PV panels meant for solar power installations on the properties of Casino Group in France.
This agreement is an add-on to the earlier 15-MW contract between the two firms established last year. This agreement will help Casino Group convert the under-utilized parking area and roof space into power plants, thereby generate renewable energy and decrease carbon dioxide emissions.
Under the agreement, Casino Group will be provided with SunPower E19 Series solar panels that provide around 19% efficiency. The modules feature contact solar cells which provide 3% more surface area for every cell, increasing efficiency of the panels by decreasing un-used space. The panels also feature an anti-reflective coating which helps generate more energy in comparison to a traditional solar panel.
The combined 35-MW contract will lead to solar energy systems at 18 of the properties of Casino Group, on parking lots and rooftops. In-store monitoring displays situated at the facilities of Casino Group with solar energy systems will provide employees and customers with information on the amount of solar energy being produced on site.
