Yingli Green Energy to Provide Solar Power Expertise for Powering “20 Centres for 2010”

Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited, a global major in the manufacture of vertically integrated photovoltaics and also the holder of the ‘Yingli Solar’ brand name, will provide its solar power expertise for powering “20 Centres for 2010”, which is the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’s official campaign.

This campaign falls under the Football for Hope initiative that uses the power of football to make a positive impact on the society. This initiate is being headed by FIFA, the football governing body of the world, along with a social profit organization called streetfootballworld.

This official campaign will be supported by Yingli Green Energy by offering its solar energy to training centres throughout Africa. Yingli Green Energy terms this support as “Football for hope. Energy for hope”. Yingli Green Energy will also provide solar installations for the centres for powering study rooms, computers and pitch lighting. Five out of the 20 centres are presently being constructed in South Africa with the remaining 15 being built in other African nations. The initial six centres to be constructed are situated in South Africa, Ghana, Namibia, Mali, Rwanda and Kenya.

Liansheng Miao, CEO and Chairman of Yingli Green Energy, mentioned that the FIFA World Cup 2010 presents a perfect opportunity for the company to be associated with Football for Hope and also to uphold the “20 Centres for 2010” campaign. He also added that among the core values of the company stands an important pillar social responsibility and that the company is also focused on a variety of projects around the world with the aim of making solar power a cost-effective and sustainable energy for the globe.
