Sharp Electronics Corporation, a Sharp Corporation subsidiary, is celebrating the milestone of producing 2,000,000 solar panels at its assembly plant at Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA) located in Memphis, TN. Ever since commencing operations in 2003, the production capacity of the plant has increased, while its manufacturing personnel tripled. This solar manufacturing plant assembles a broad range of panels for commercial and residential installations.
Over the years, Sharp Electronics Corporation has increased its operations in the U.S., delivering solar modules for powering numerous governmental, utility, residential and commercial-scale solar electricity systems across the U.S. Some of its notable installations include solar systems at a hub of FedEx in Oakland, CA; the corporate campus of Google in Mountain View, CA; and the headquarters of Patagonia in Ventura, CA.
The Memphis facility of Sharp Electronics Corporation has produced sufficient solar modules to power over 65,000 homes with renewable, clean solar energy, which is the equivalent of saving around 12 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Sharp Solar Energy Solutions Group, which is a business division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, offers customers with reliable, high-quality, cost-effective solar products, most of which are manufactured at the Memphis plant by the union members of IBEW.
