Oncor Affirms Commitment to Make Ownership of Electric Cars a Top Priority

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (Oncor) has reassured its commitment for making ownership of electric cars a smart transportation option, even as General Motors made an announcement about the availability of plug-in Chevrolet Volts in Texas.

Oncor also announced that by Q1 of 2011, the company will add Chevy volts to its existing fleet, which will be charged by a charging station in downtown Dallas at Oncor’s new headquarters.

Oncor’s CEO, Bob Shapard mentioned that the company leads utility providers in terms of making Texas as the ideal place for driving plug-in cars in America, by way of installing more than one million smart meters for helping customers in curbing their usage of electricity and also by constructing new transmission lines of 850 miles in length for the purpose of delivering renewable wind power. Shapard added that electric cars get charged to the maximum level at night, when clean wind energy is available in abundance.
