Able UK Unveils Plans for £400M Offshore Wind Project at the Humber Port

Able UK, a company based at Hartlepool and engaged in the restitution and development of deserted sites in the UK, has exposed its plans to invest £400M in an offshore wind project in the south bank of the Humber and its objective to alter the place into a renowned place for renewable energy business.

The Humber site spans around 2000 acres and will remain the chief site for such port-related activities in the UK. The company is planning to utilize a site located in the vicinity of Immingham for the manufacture of turbines required for the North Sea Wind Farm project.

The company is planning to install around 5000 wind turbines in offshore wind locations such as Norfolk Bank, Hornsea and Dogger Bank to achieve utmost production capacity.

Able UK has unveiled that its current package of plans that includes the building of offshore wind turbines and expanding in to the area of biomass energy development. The UK government’s approval for the project is expected to create 10,000 restricted onsite jobs and 17,000 more such jobs in northern Lincolnshire and other places totaling an impressive 27,000 new jobs.

Peter Stephenson, Executive Chairman of the Able UK emphasized the national importance attached to the planned marine energy park development. He further detailed on how the company is planning to include all the facilities needed for the manufacturing of wind turbines, constructing of offshore installation bases and commissioning of the wind turbines from a place near to the planned North Sea wind development project. Stephenson further explained the feasibility of installing a biomass power plant to power nearly half a million homes along with the proposed wind turbine plant.

The Humber Port currently handles import of vehicles, provides warehouse facility to enable easy distribution and has received an amount equal to £50m as investment for its development. Able UK is waiting for the North Lincolnshire Council’s permission for its proposal to construct a handling operation centre and business park at Humber Port.
