JA Solar Joins Innovalight for Developing High-Efficiency Solar Cells

JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. has joined Innovalight, Inc. in developing high-efficiency solar cells. JA Solar Holdings has announced that it has signed up a three-year agreement for the supply of Innovalight’s silicon nanoparticle ink towards the production of SECIUM solar cells of high efficiency, slated for commercial production in the later half of this year.

JA Solar Holdings has been able to achieve a conversion efficiency rate of 18.9% for its SECIUM cells and has received an independent certification from The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) located in Germany. In comparison with conventional solar cells, the new high-efficiency, cost-effective solar cells facilitate considerably better spectral response even at short wavelengths. Therefore, the conversion efficiency is also much better when compared with conventional solar cells.

JA Solar Holdings is a pioneer in the field of advancing solar technology and a global major in the production of solar cells while Innovalight produces a proprietary silicon ink based on nanotechnology. Innovalight also licenses a platform process that helps boost solar cell performance and lowers production costs as well.
