Greenlight Planet Gets $250,000 Funding in Solar for All Design Contest

Greenlight Planet has been awarded the first prize by the Solar for All Design Contest entertained by Intersolar North America carrying an investment of $250,000 from the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation for the project designed by the Greenlight Planet on 12th July.

The Solar for All Design contest conducted by the Ashoka and Canopus Foundation is aimed at finding an innovative method of providing cost effective photovoltaic power to the people living with meager means and without access to affordable electric power, by blending easy to implement technical solutions and formulated market initiative,which prompted Gary Hattem Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation President to remark about Greenlight Planet’s work being innovative and affordable. The contest witnessed participation in assorted types of fields from 58 companies and establishments from 29 countries all over the world.

Solar for All Greenlight Planet

The Solar for All Design contest runner up award valued 10,000 euro from Good Energies was awarded to Kaito Energie for their ingenuity in providing electric power to Senegalese villages. While presenting the award Prof Eicke Weber, who led the jury committee as Chairman and functions as Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy said, that he was overwhelmed by the measured approach of Kaito in achieving its goal.

Markus Elsaesser, who leads Solar Promotion International GmbH as CEO said that world over more than 3.5 billion people are deprived of electric power which offers tremendous opportunities for the growth of PV market , and the current initiative opens up more such opportunities.
