Vattenfall, a heat and electricity producing company, in agreement with Stadtwerke München (SWM), a Munich municipal utility, has formed a cooperative venture to establish an offshore wind power production facility at DanTysk.
Vattenfall will retain a major stake of 51% in the envisaged project while SWM will hold the rest. This wind turbine project having 80 wind turbines in an area of 70 square kilometers installed in 30 m water depths will be located 70 km west of the Sylt Island.
The details of the project have been finalized and the total investment requirement is to be confirmed keeping in view the commercial viability of installing the wind turbine offshore. The negotiations for the supply of turbine and other related components are expected to be finalized before the fall and. the grid access is to be provided by the same, who handles the Sylt group. Tenders have been floated all over the Europe for turn keying the project The DanTysk wind farm is expected to commission its first wind turbine during the year 2013and is likely to power nearly 500,000 households, subject to its production capability.
Anders Dahl, who leads Vattenfall Wind Power as its head expressed his happiness in associating with Stadtwerke München as the project will allow the company to achieve its aim of eco friendly energy generation by the year 2050 and explained his intention to promote wind power projects in Germany.
Dr. Kurt Mühlhäuser who leads Stadtwerke München as its CEO said that the city of Munich requires more working partners like Vattenfall to achieve its dream of making Munich a total renewable energy using city by the year 2025.
