Sued-Chemie to Manufacture Bioethanol from Straw in Germany

Sued-Chemie, a German chemical firm, is all set to construct an advanced bioethanol facility to produce bioethanol from straw. This pilot plant would cost around $36.14 million and is expected to have an annual bioethanol production capacity of approximately 2,000 tonnes.

The plant, located at Straubing, Germany, is likely to be completed by late 2011 and will facilitate the testing and demonstration of new production processes. Generally, first generation biofuels facilities make use of feedstocks including palm oil, soyoil and grains which are otherwise used as food also. Next generation plants operate with the aim of producing green fuels from the waste products that are not used as food.
