Amonix, a leading company engaged in designing and production of concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar power systems, has leased its 214,000 sq ft production facility at North Pecos Road in North Las Vegas, Nevada and will start its manufacturing process by the end of the year 2010.
The manufacturing facility is likely to receive around $6 Million Tax Credit from the Recovery Act and additional $12 Million through private finance. The project is expected to create around 278 clean energy jobs and the company is planning to hire local hands from Nevada for positions such as management, production and technical.
Shelley Berkley, the US congresswoman, The Mayor of North Las Vegas and. Harry Reid, majority leader of the Senate, praised Amonix which opened its CPV solar plant located at Southern Nevada Water Authority’s (SNWA) River Mountains Water Treatment Facility last May for taking benefit of the American recovery and reinvestment act thus employing around 300 Nevada residents to work and make the state a world leader in solar production.
Amonix has so far installed its solar power systems at three places in Nevada such as Nevada Energy’s Clark Generation Station, SNWA River Mountains Water Treatment Facility, on the campus of UNLV and the currently planned one. The company is planning to use its new facility at North Las Vegas for manufacturing solar power systems to use in Nevada as well as for export to other states and. install over 7700 Amonix systems for its own power generation at the factory.
Brian Robertson CEO of Amonix said that this place was chosen due to its dry weather and places added capability to their other systems and when in full capacity the plant will be operational incessantly producing 150 MW annually.
