VIASPACE Showcases Giant King Grass in China’s Industrial Biotechnology Congress

VIASPACE Inc., a clean energy firm that grows Giant King Grass as a renewable, low-carbon energy crop, has announced that Carl Kukkonen, the company’s chief executive, made a presentation during July 25-27, 2010 in Dalian, China at the Third Annual World Congress of Industrial Biotechnology.

This event was attended by investors, government officials, technical experts, industry leaders and business executives.

Industrial biotechnology has its focus on various processes that are used for converting biomass into bio-chemicals, bio-fuels, bio-energy and other biomaterials while assuming that the biomass feedstock requirement in agricultural waste forms would be readily available at the time of need at a cost-effective price. This field of biology applies to the usage of living materials for the purpose of engineering as well as manufacturing useful products including textiles, cosmetics, bio-chemicals, bio-plastics and alternative energy.

The presentation made by Carl Kukkonen is available on the company’s website and is titled "Giant King Grass: High Yield Feedstock for Biofuels, Biogas, Biochemicals and Fuel for Electricity Production".
