Andrew Cuomo, who currently holds the position of attorney in New York, has filed his candidature for the governor’s post. He has announced his policy on an energy program which supports better use of wind and solar energy.
The points raised in the released document amply demonstrate the plane of developed public interest in the state of New York on renewable energy happenings all over the world.
The campaign document named ‘Power NY,’ first and foremost emphasizes the need to rein in the ever ascending energy costs, and high cost of solar energy products, for implementing a solar program on a wider magnitude. The document reiterated the need to fix precise targets for the government utilities, and private power companies in achieving solar energy generation and suggests the suspension of power purchase if power costs are not lowered to the level recommended. The report cites the progress made by Arizona and California states, in introducing such programs and how the states could woo global manufacturers such as Suntech and SunPower to start their production units contained by the territories of the state. The document details how the research centers located within New York state can focus on clean energy technology to attract global solar investors to start manufacturing facilities within the state. The report concludes with the support garnered in implementing solar energy which can be easily executed in the state than wind, or other renewable energy sources.
The New York Solar Energy Industries Association, which failed to win endorsement for the introduction of SERC system enables energy credits to the solar power users, has announced its support to the Power NY platform. Ron Kamen, who leads the trade association as its president, said the report identifies the opportunities, for the New York State to lead the renewable energy implementation program, and called his association members to support the move.
