Oklahoma is successfully tapping geothermal energy for its home HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems, towards green living in the state. Working for the Oklahoma State University, James Bose and Gerald McClain are veterans in this field, having worked for several decades on geothermal-energy.
Partially due to the influence of James Bose, Oklahoma has become the country’s leader in this industry of geothermal cooling and heating.
In Oklahoma, new houses being instituted with geothermal energy is on the increase. McClain, who teaches online geothermal system courses, was determined to get the best deal in installing a home HVAC system. McClain got a whopping offer with a federal tax credit of 30% that is applicable for clean energy and took the geothermal route.
The geothermal system of McClain comprises pipes sunk directly into the clay soil below his home. It operates at a constant 62° F temperature and consists of three heat pumps and an electric-powered compressor. McClain opines that some developers are often reluctant in recommending or installing geothermal systems, but, people in this field know about this affordable alternative for homes and therefore should explore more options and possibilities towards successfully installing home HVAC systems in Oklahoma.
