ALM's Real Estate Media Division, a leader in news and information for the commercial real estate industry, has launched a new online section focused on sustainable commercial real estate issues. The page, located on GlobeSt.com, will serve as a central online hub for all coverage of green issues and information available throughout REM's network of print, online and event properties. The new page is part of the ongoing series of sections and features that have been added to GlobeSt.com since January.
Today's launch of the section will feature a special online Webinar, “The Business Case for Green” at 12:30 PM ET. The free event, moderated by John Salustri, executive editor of GlobeSt.com, will feature an interactive discussion of green issues by industry leaders, including Larry Heard, president & CEO, Transwestern; Victoria Kahn, managing director, ING Clarion; Jim Lutz, senior vice president of development, Liberty Property Trust; Brenna Walraven, chairman, BOMA International and executive managing director, national property management for USAA; and Dan Young-Dixon, director of design, Opus Architects & Engineers, Inc. The panel will discuss balancing the “need for green” with the bottom-line financial responsibilities faced by industry executives.
Panelists will respond to questions from attendees, and online replays of the discussion will be available on demand, beginning on Wednesday, March 26. To register for the Webinar, visit www.globest.com/rem/greenwebcast.html.
GlobeSt.com's Green section will include special online-only content including original news and features on sustainable building and ownership. A professional-services directory, spotlighting the nation's leading green suppliers and service providers, will also be available later this year.
The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International will serve as REM's association partner for the Green section, which will also feature blogs and a special announcements section with updates from BOMA and the U.S. Green Buildings Council.
BOMA International, along with the USGBC, will also serve as association sponsors for “RealShare GREEN BUILDINGS: Making a Profit While Making a Difference,” to be held June 3 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC. RealShare GREEN BUILDINGS is a day-long networking event that will gather leading owners, investors, developers, architects, lenders and brokers to discuss the green real estate climate and its impact on all aspects of commercial property.
