Cobalt Technologies Partners with Fluor Corporation on Biobutanol Production Plants

Cobalt Technologies, a company that specializes in the commercialization of biobutanol as a renewable fuel and chemical, has entered into an agreement with one of the largest project management companies in the world Fluor Corporation.

Under this contract, Fluor Corporation will be providing engineering consulting services for Cobalt Technologies as the latter gears up for commercializing its biobutanol production technology. Furthermore, Fluor Corporation will provide various EPCM (engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance) for the commercial and demonstration-scale butanol production plants of Cobalt Technologies. By having Fluor Corporation as its partner, Cobalt Technologies makes sure that high-quality construction, procurement and design principles are implemented for its upcoming plants.

The technology of Cobalt Technologies transforms non-food feedstock including mill residues and forest waste, into biobutanol. The company’s butanol production system has been based on technological advancements made in the selection of microbial strain, bioreactor process and design engineering that result in a low-cost, capital-efficient, highly-productive solution. Cobalt Technologies’ engineering foundation ensures the scaling up of the production process while making sure that capital efficiency is maintained.
