HOCHTIEF, a company engaged in construction related services, its auxiliary companies and their stake holders have received orders worth over EUR 321.8 million for the construction of wind farms in Australia and United States.
The Australian projects to be developed as a part of the consortium by Leighton, a project development company valued around 692.5 million. For developing the Macarthur Wind Farm project that is taking place in western parts of Victoria Australia Leighton will receive around € 200.8 million. In the wind farm project Leighton is involved in the procurement of wind turbines, their transportation to the site and installing them. As part of the deal the company will construct roads, cable trenches, terminal substations and construction foundations besides erecting overhead and under ground electricity power lines. On completion of this project the farm is expected to produce a total of 420 MW power to light around 220,000 homes a year. Thiess Services an auxiliary company Leighton has recently received an order worth €69 million to offer network buildings and maintenance services for a power grid company located in Australia till the year 2015.
Turner, a stake holding company of HOCHTIEF is constructing a 14 storied office building valued at € 52 million in North Bethesda USA. The building expected, to receive LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council is planned for completion during July 2012. The new building will cover an area of over 60,000 square meters and house 1,300 employees of the Federal Government.
