United Solar, a manufacturer of rooftop and building integrated PV modules under the brand name UNI-SOLAR and a fully owned auxiliary company of Energy Conversion Devices, has completed the BIPV product installation at Junior Achievement of South Florida's JA World Huizenga Center, located at Center at Broward College in Coconut Creek, Florida.
The 175 kW thin solar photovoltaic system was donated by Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) a partner of UNI-SOLAR and installed by Advanced Roofing a local installer.
Michael Kornahrens, who works in AGT and also an important sponsor of Junior Achievement program, said the UNI-SOLAR thin-film technology was chosen exclusively due to its inherent advantages over the other solar products. He added that the light weight and flexible solar panels can be fixed to the roof tops without perforations and generate more power than other modules. He further said that the UNI-SOLAR solar laminated modules are designed to survive the hurricanes and are made as per the specifications of Miami Dade Building Code.
Mark Morelli, who leads United Solar’s parent company Energy Conversion Devices, as President and CEO, said that the United Solar has taken the opportunity to educate the younger generation about making financial choices and improve their fraternity through practical usage of renewable energy. He added that it is important to offer learning tools and chances for the progression of the youth as it is equal to the importance shown by the company to design and manufacture a good solar product.
