Vanguard Energy Partners Deploys Solar Power System for NJ Federal Correctional Institution

Vanguard Energy Partners, a company that designs and installs large-scale solar power systems, has deployed a solar power system with 402 kW capacity at the Fairton, New Jersey Federal Correctional Institution (FCI). This ground-mounted PV array will assist offset the electricity bills of the facility while promoting its sustainability initiatives.

Constellation Energy, the energy and solar services contractor for this project, chose Vanguard Energy Partners for designing and constructing the facility utilizing 1,872 solar modules made by Unicor. This solar installation on a federal prison is the first of its kind in the Northeast region of the U.S. This solar array will assist the prison realize savings of around $80,000 during the first year of operation alone.

This solar system will generate around 500 kWh of electricity annually and contribute to a reduction of 27% in energy consumption at the prison. The system will help reduce 790,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions annually, equal to conserving gasoline by 40,333 gallons and oil by 834 barrels.
