ACCIONA Energy a global company, providing services in the renewable energy, water sources and infrastructure sectors, is expected to receive about 13.79 million Canadian dollars as incentive from the government of Canada over the next ten years for the construction of the Lamèque wind farm, it is building in New Brunswick Canada.
The announcement was made by Canada’s Minister of National Revenue during the foundation laying ceremony of the wind farm. The subsidy calculated at the rate of 1% /kW h produced has the approval of the Canadian government’s ecoEnergy for Renewable Power program.
The Lamèque Wind Power Project located in Lameque Island over the Atlantic coast of Canada is expected to have 30, 1.5 MW wind turbines furnished with the patented ACCIONA wind power technology. The wind farm erected with an investment of over 115 million Canadian dollars is expected to provide unremitting clean power to 8000 homes in the vicinity. The project scheduled to be completed during the early part of the year 2011 will have a 25 year purchase contract by a Utility company located in New Brunswick.
The minister while concluding said that the announcement is an indication of the government’s commitment to provide clean and renewable power. He added that the Lameque wind farm while providing clean energy is also helping to initiate quality jobs in renewable energy sector.
