Brewer Pilots Point Marina, located in Westbrook Conn., has declared the completion of its 8,500 square-foot solar photovoltaic (PV) system funded partially by Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) and designed and built by Alteris Renewables of Wilton, Conn. The power generated by the solar system will be used to light the three work sheds located in the marina and part of its 900 customer slips.
The new 72 kW DC solar system built at Brewer Pilots Point Marina was designed and constructed by Alteris Renewables and has around 360 Sun Tech 200 W solar panels kept over the roof of its newly built storage and maintenance building in the South Yard of Marina. Earlier Alteris has executed a number of such installations at the behest of CCEF.
For the marine solar installation CCEF has extended around $184,968 grant and routed it through its On-site Renewable Distributed Generation Program. This program extends suitable quantum of funds for renewable energy projects planned by businesses at Connecticut for the purpose of reducing the power load on common electricity grid and to reduce CO2 emissions due to production of electricity from fossil fuel sources.
Lise Dondy, CCEF President, said that utilizing solar photovoltaic panels is a good choice for the set up available at the marina. He added that the installation will help the marina to meet out its peak demand during the summer season and expressed happiness about his association with Brewer Pilots Point Marina.
