KYOCERA Corporation, a supplier of solar power generating systems, has declared that it is providing multi-crystalline silicon solar modules for the proposed 1 MW solar power plant of Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc through KYOCERA Solar Corporation, its fully owned subsidiary company.
The company has already started the solar panel installations and anticipates completing it in June 2011. The planned installation will generate around 1,000 MWh of electric power that is sufficient enough to provide electricity to 300 houses and offsetting around 500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
The company holds the biggest share in the solar power installations used in Japan by individual and industrial houses. The company is engaged in providing high volume solar modules for government buildings, private businesses and factories, educational institutions and others all over Japan. In addition to meeting the requirements of domestic solar power installations, the company has also supplied 50 MW worth of solar modules to three bigger sized power production plants in Spain and a 6 MW solar power producing plant in Thailand which is considered to be the biggest solar installation in Asia till date.
The company in addition to providing solar power panels for the Hokkaido Electric Power Co. Inc., also supplies solar modules for the on going construction of large scale power plants such as Tokyo Electric Power Company (13MW), Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (1.7 MW), and Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (3MW). Further the company is planning to take advantage of the growing solar market all over the world and various subsidies, and cash refund programs available for solar power installations.
