Ballast Nedam Enters into Agreement for Anholt Wind Farm

Ballast Nedam has entered into an agreement with A2SEA A/S for utilizing the HLV (Heavy Lift Vessel) Svanen in Denmark at the Anholt offshore wind park. DONG Energy, a Danish company, will be provided with the vessel for the foundations installation in the wind farm.

This summer, DONG Energy has received the necessary concessions towards the Anholt offshore wind park. The wind farm comprises 111 turbines with an individual 3.6 MW capacity. The foundations are enabled with a unique tubular steel pile that is also called as a monopile along with the transition piece that goes on to connect the tower of the wind turbine to the monopile.

Meanwhile, Ballast Nedam has signed another agreement with Walney Offshore Windfarms (SSE and DONG Energy) for installing monopoles by using the HLV Svanen by Q2 of 2011. The monopiles weigh around 800 – 1000 tonnes each. These monopiles would become the heaviest ever to be installed at offshore wind farms.
