U.S. Geothermal Begins Construction of San Emidio Geothermal Project

U.S. Geothermal Inc. has secured the San Emidio construction and financing agreements and has started the construction work on the geothermal power plant in northwest Nevada. U.S. Geothermal is a leader in the renewable energy industry having its focus on the production, development and sale of electricity generated from geothermal energy.

The company’s subsidiary, USG Nevada LLC, has signed agreements with SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) for a project loan worth $27 million towards the construction, procurement and engineering contract of the Phase I work of this San Emidio Project located in northwest Nevada.

The development on this San Emidio project has been planned for two stages. Phase one includes the replacement and relocation of the currently existing power plant. The new geothermal plant will have a power generation capacity of 11.5 MW, with the net electrical output being in the range of 8.1 MW to 9.1 MW, depending upon the seasonal as well as other variations. Phase two of this project has a planned expansion of 26 MW capacity.
