JDSU Introduces New Concentrated Solar PV Technology

JDSU has introduced its concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) technology towards solar power generation. The new CPV cell has been designed for providing cost-effective and highly-efficient solutions towards solar system integrators.

These CPV cells are designed for capturing sunlight in solar panels for generating electric power, thus highlighting the advantages of CPV technology.

The installation of CPV systems in the U.S. will be representing a market value of $70 million during 2010 while being anticipated to grow in excess of $3 billion by the year 2015. The CPV market has maximum utility in areas such as industrial buildings, shopping centers and college campuses.

Initial CPV projects have proved to be successful and new projects are beginning to increase. In 2011, these CPV projects would have an overall capacity of 100 MW and by 2015, grow up to 1 GW capacity.
