Guatemala’s Wind Energy Sector is Valued at 7,800 MW Capacity

The Guatemala CNEE (National Electric Energy Commission) will be offering 15-year contracts towards achieving energy generation of 7,800 MW capacity.  Guatemala’s unused potential for wind power is anticipated to be an estimated 7,800 MW.

The process for awarding contracts to participating producers will use a special model as a first-time basis towards purchasing energy and power within a period of 15 years starting from May 2015. Forty percent of the overall MW would be awarded for operating plants while the rest of the 480 MW to novel plants.

This offer is likely to bring the prices to a constant rate under the medium term. The tender offer goes on to provide two variables towards energy prices. This offer is bound to provide interesting options for investors while ensuring future supply as well.
