SolarReserve LLC, a Santa Monica California headquartered solar energy technology company that controls an exclusive world right for molten salt solar power generating technology, has declared the opening of its office at Las Vegas for its office staff who are engaged in the building of a 100 MW utility level solar thermal plant situated close to the township of Tonopah in Nye region. The staff will also be on the look out for other solar opportunities in the region.
The Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project located at Tonopah will utilize the exclusive molten salt technology to store the generated solar power up to 10 hours and generate electric power in the night or during the eclipse period of the sun. The product is designed to increase power production and to meet the peak hour demand. The molten salt technology while allowing continuous production of electric power like any other fossil fuel technology will not produce carbon dioxide emissions. The plant on completion of its construction will provide around 480,000 MWH of solar energy annually to provide clean power to around 75,000 homes and to meet their peak hour supply requirements.
Kevin Smith, CEO of SolarReserve, said that the opening of their office in Nevada will help not only in the completion of Tonopah project but also depicts the intention of the company to expand its operations in Nevada. He further said that his company always viewed Nevada as a core center for solar power developments and wanted to utilize its newly developed technology to build utility level solar projects for the power development of the country and for creating more jobs in the Nevada region. He further said that his company is also trying for alternatives to source its supplies from Nevada to increase local job opportunities and the resultant economic benefits.
