LDK Solar Joins National Renewable Energy Laboratory to Provide Clean Energy Solutions

LDK Solar Co Ltd, a total manufacturer of photovoltaic products and producer of multicrystalline wafers, declared that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) which comes under the U.S. Department of Energy for a joint research and its follow up activities concerning photovoltaic devices and silicon materials. The NREL offers facilities for research on renewable energy and energy efficiency and its development.

The main purposes of the joint research activities include a detailed study on issues concerning silicon feedstock, introduction of required basic standards for the production of solar grade silicon and its assessment methodology, study on crystallization technologies and its profitable realization.

Xiaofeng Peng, LDK Solar’s Chairman and CEO, commended NREL as a leading photovoltaic research organization in the world and expressed his happiness to get associated with it. He added that his company was unofficially engaged in a similar joint venture with NREL before and expressed his happiness on the initiatives to validate such cooperation. He was expressing pleasure about the sustained work of his company’s technology center which is devoted to improvements in its products and technology while enabling the continued growth of LDK Solar. John Benner, PV Industry Partnership Manager at NCPV of NREL said that closely working with LDK solar will speedup the research process and will generate a number of clean energy solutions.
