SunPower Corp, a designer and producer of high end solar panels, declared that it has been chosen by White Oak Solar Energy L.P, a fully owned auxiliary of LS Power Group, for devising, erecting and sustaining its proposed 10 MW Dover SUN Park to be located in Dover Del.
The proposed solar park is anticipated to be commissioned for power production during next summer and will supply the produced power to the utility grid managed by city of Dover.
The 103 acre plant site will incorporate the registered and patented SunPower Tracker systems along with its energy efficient E19 solar panels. The design of the Tracker system will allow it to follow the movement of the sun all through the day and draw at least 25% more sun energy than the other conventional fixed-tilt panels available in the market. Also the design of the tracker system will trim down land usage. White Oak Solar is planning to sign long-term accords with Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility, City of Dover, Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation and Delmarva Power and Light, to sell the power and the energy credits generated from the solar farm.
Steve Vavrik, SunPower’s Managing Director, said that the patented sun tracker system provided by them can be installed quickly to meet the requirements of the peak period for a longer duration thus making the cost of solar power generation competitive for use in power plants. He added that the high power producing and efficient solar plants provided by SunPower will allow the progressive establishments such as LS Power and its partners to maximize the production of clean renewable solar energy for a number of years.
