HCC Awarded 300-MW Hydropower Agreement from GMR

HCC (Hindustan Construction Company) has received a 300-MW hydropower contract from GMR (Badrinath) Hydro Power Generation.

This project has been valued at around $146.4 million (INR 6.6 billion) and will be located in Uttarakhand state in India. This power project will be developed along the river Alaknanda located at Badrinath while this hydropower contract has been offered in two lots.

The first lot of this contract involves civil works package meant for desanding system, part HRT, power intake, barrage, diversion channel and coffer dams. The second lot of this contract involves civil works package meant for part HRT, TRT, pothead yard, pressure shaft, surge shaft and MAT.

The first lot of this hydropower project will be completed not later than 52 months from the issue date of an official notice, while the second lot will be taking 54 months for completion. HCC has claimed that the company has already constructed in excess of 25% of the power generation capacity in India’s hydroelectricity scenario that includes several projects under the Himalayan area.
