Scotland Leads Wind Power Partnership in Europe

Scotland is leading from the front in terms of wind power partnerships in Europe.

Presented by Jim Mather, the Energy Minister of Scotland, the Good Practice Wind Project involves seven of the European nations that includes Italy while aiming at the removal of obstacles that go on to hinder the development of wind energy, conforming with the local development requirements as well as environmental protection.

This project aims at developing and promoting onshore as well as offshore wind farms in Europe. This partnership involves other European countries such as Italy, Malta, Norway, Greece, Belgium, Spain and Ireland.

Towards this wind energy project, an initial funding of €2 million has been provided by the EACI (European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation). This forms part of an EU programme that has been termed as “Intelligent Energy Europe 2010”. This wind energy project maintains the best possible balance between the local community development and environmental protection.
