Metso Corporation Receives Contract for Converting Polish Pulverized Coal to Biomass

Metso Corporation of Finland has been awarded the contract for converting pulverized coal boiler into biomass fired boiler for the Polish company, Dalkia Lodz SA located in Lodz, Poland. Metso’s agenda also covers the boiler island automation.

This conversion will enable Dalkia in contributing towards the energy policy of Poland and towards supplying low-carbon power for the national electric grid as well as Lodz city’s district heating systems. Commercial operations for this biomass fired boiler have been scheduled for a December 2011 beginning.

This boiler conversion will involve the maximization of the usage of existing boiler parts as well as auxiliary equipment while simultaneously minimizing the interference with existing installation. The company’s integrated information system is enabled with reporting tools, emission monitoring and trending in the long term. Dalkia Lodz, a member of the Dalkia Group, specializes in providing energy services for businesses, industry, public institutions and local authorities.
